In class this week we have been discussing natural resources on Earth. This blog is for the students in our class to determine why it is important to learn about natural resources.
The different types of resources on our Earth are:
- air, water, soil
- plants and animals
- raw materials (rocks and minerals)
- space and land
- wind, geothermal, tidal, and solar energy
These resources are either renewable, non-renewable, or flow resources. Renewable resources are usually living and therefore can renew themselves. Non-renewable resources cannot be replaces once they are used. Flow resources are renewable but they do not need regeneration or regrowth. We need to make sure that we protect and conserve our natural resources. Natural resources provide food, water, and ways to make our lives easier. Please post ideas for conserving and taking care of our Natural resources. Why do you think it is important for us to conserve and take care of natural resources? Why is it important to learn about natural resources?
One way to conserve natural resources is to reuse! Reusing things several times before recycling or throwing away is a great way to extend the life of natural resources. Try to fix the broken things you have instead of throwing them away and buying new ones. It is important to protect natural resources because we depend on them and we are using many of them faster than they can be replaced.

1. Use both sides of paper (saves trees)
2. Use plastic and glass reusable plates and cups instead of disposable paper and plastic (protects landfills and saves trees)
3. Use cloth or reusable grocery bags
4. Use cloth towels and napkins instead of paper (saves trees)
5. Donate old clothes, books, and electrical equipment so others can use them
6. Use rechargeable batteries instead of buying new ones
It is important to be aware of natural resources so you can help protect them!
I agree it is important to protect natural resources because we depend on them and we are using many of them faster than they can be replaced. All of your ideas for conserving and saving our natural resources are great ideas. Recycling and reducing natural resources are other good ways to conserve natural resources.
ReplyDeleteAnother way to help conserve our natural resources is to reduce consumption. Rather than keeping the water running while brushing your teeth, a person should turn off the water.

It is vital to teach our children about the importance of natural resources so they can help contribute in the conservation movement.
You are right it is vital to teach our children about the importance of natural resources. It is also important for our children to understand that natural resources are important to our living. Without them we wouldn't have food to eat, clothes to wear, water to drink, water to take a bath with, houses, schools, and so much more. We couldn't drive our cars, buses, trucks, trains, or airplanes. The Earth gives us everything we need. It is our job to protect and conserve these resources for our children's future.
ReplyDeleteUp-cycling is another way we can conserve our natural resources. This is when we modify something we already have to serve another purpose. For example, instead of going out to buy a new outfit we can cut up old clothes to sew into a new outfit. It is important to understand and learn about natural resources so we can keep them as long as we can since many of them are not renewable.
ReplyDeleteOne other way people can learn about protecting our natural resources is to protect the trees. We create so many things out of trees and are not protecting them. Trees give off natural resources that allow us to breath properly. With the constant construction and the use of trees to make paper, we are destroying many trees. If we learn to be aware of the natural resources we can get from trees, we will hopefully protect them. While we cannot prevent big companies from tearing down trees, we can reuse paper and even plant more trees! It is important to protect the natural resources because it is difficult to replace them when they are gone. Learning about natural resources allows us to become more aware and discover how we can protect them.
